It’s been an exciting 2006 as we’ve picked up and relocated our company to a small and quite beautiful town in southeastern Arizona.  A town founded in 1870 and very reminiscent of the 1950’s way of life. 

Having worked a show in St. David for the last four years at a Benedictine Monastery, by a stroke of luck found a wonderful house with lots of room for the animals.  A town with no stores, or even mail delivery!  What it does have are wonderful artesian wells, and loaded with Pecan Trees.   We have had a beautiful winter with temperatures above normal and 150 or so days without rain.

We have added to our collection of remedies a luxurious handmade soap collection made by an artisan soap maker for Planet Earth Remedies. PLANET EARTH TIP: Before sticking your finger into creams or lotions – think of the bacteria you probably have on your fingers -use applicators sticks and throw out after every application.  You can buy White Birch Coffee Sticks at Smart & Final, or a restaurant supply store – cost is about $4.00 per thousand.  Sticking fingers in any container with beauty products – especially face creams, hand creams or anything made with water is not a good idea. 

Creams & lotions are made with water – and water creates bacteria – therefore major non-natural preservatives are needed to be able to control bacteria growth.  So do yourself a favor health wise, and use an applicator – I’ll promise you that you’ll become a stick addict like me if you give it time.  Also, check out the ingredients in major face products, including very expensive creams, and you may be surprised to find that mineral oil is a major ingredient as it is very stable and won’t go rancid.

I work events on a regular basis, and encounter customers with severe pain and discomfort due to swelling.  I do massage in my booth and explain to people how to minimize swelling with our products.  I always stress after a massage to use moist heat (not a heating pad), as in studies done it has shown moist heat to be more effective in relieving pain and reducing swelling than taking two 500 mg of ibuprofen.  I bought a custom neck wrap some years ago and use every night. 

Recently, I read of a cancer patient who keeps a microwave in her bedroom and remains pretty much pain free with the wrap.  I have commissioned a professional seamstress to make custom wraps for Planet Earth Remedies – including wraps for animals in the shape of a bone – small, medium and large to cover the spine area and the joints.  These are wraps with intricate stitching and placement of flax for maximum heat and lasting power.
