Planet Earth Remedies™

The following article was published February 1, 2005 by
request of the editor’s of Five Star Reviews Magazine. Lisa
thought something on wound healing, skin ailment & cat
scratches would be of interest to many. Lisa is always playing
with her cats, Tachi & Cali and deals with scratches and scars
on a regular basis. The end of Feburary, my hand was mauled by
a pit bull and after the initial panic, my first thought was
the article and remembering the impact honey had on killing
bacteria. From working a show that day, I had my Honey Scrub
Soap with me, and began pouring directly on the wound. It was
amazing how fast the wound actually healed, considering how
much damage was done.
It has been said that honey is the
world’s most perfect food for the skin, hair and body.
It has also been proven that bacteria cannot live in the
presence of honey due to the fact that honey is a great source
of potassium which withdraws from the bacteria the moisture
that is essential to its existence. Honey is a perfect product
of nature. Bees seem to have a great instinct for checking the
quality of the flowers it visits for obtaining nectar and when
it does not meet up to standards, they move along to other
flowers. In fact, the pollen of many flowers has a higher
content of vitamin C than most fruits and vegetables. My
favorite product I make happens to be a Honey Scrub Face Wash
that I have consistently used twice a day for seven years. I
rarely use a moisturizer, so when people comment on my skin, I
give all the credit to honey. It is a must to keep the face
clean, infection down and keep bacteria at a low. If honey is
poured directly on an open wound, it will aid in killing
bacteria, therefore healing very fast. Cleansing a cat
scratch, wound, a pimple, or boil, with something like the
Honey Scrub Soap and allowing it to dry will act as a liquid
healing Band-Aid is extremely effective. Also, Honey combined
with Tea Tree, Lavender, and Organic Soap is really helpful in
treating acne, rashes, psoriasis, eczema, boils, cancer sores.
The Bacteria Buster Balm with Lavender and Tea Tree is an
extremely important co-partner to the Honey Scrub soap. On my
web site, skin ailments get more hits than any other
conditions.
I was recently approached to manufacture a natural Tattoo
Healing product line. As I began digging into products
available, it hit me that a version of the Honey soap with Tea
Tree and Lavender (anti-viral, anti-fungal, antiseptic,
disinfectant, anti-bacterial) would be the perfect solution to
cleansing a tattoo. A short time ago I had permanent eyeliner
applied and was instructed to cleanse with an anti-bacterial
soap (with chemicals) and was given petroleum based Tea Tree
gel to apply on my eyelids – not a good thing. What I used
instead was my eye balm with coconut oil & castor oil (both
great for tattoos), which left no scabbing. One of my
customers with severe psoriasis began applying this soap to
her severe outbreaks without washing off – and baking in the
sun, which helped a lot. Also the exfoliating gloves are great
for skin conditions on the body (not face) with this soap. She
will always have psoriasis until a cure is found, but she does
not have to live with the discomfort of the condition. For
acne, if you can find some baby fine pumice or use regular
sugar, mix with the soap once a week and exfoliate.
To stray from the subject of skin for a moment…folk medicine
regards honey as the best remedy for producing a good night of
sleep. Mix a tablespoon in a cup of a Lavender Tea or a
Sleeping tea to get a good night of sleep. Honey is a
predigested sugar, and very soothing to the stomach. It’s a
truly amazing food for life, and I barely scratched the
surface on the wonders of Honey.
